Community-Engaged Learning in Stanford History Courses: Breaking the Bubble

January 30, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Faculty and graduate students are invited to a discussion of the challenges and opportunities of incorporating community engagement into their teaching. If you’ve ever considered collaborating with a community organization or a government institution in your teaching, come hear from those who have done it.

What are the difficulties involved in reaching beyond the bounds of Stanford’s campus? How does community engaged learning (service learning) affect students, faculty, and communities?  How can engaging with communities in the present enhance students’ understanding of the past?

Speakers include: Al Camarillo, Michael Kahan, Carol McKibben and Justine Modica

Lunch will be served
