Becoming a Scholar-Activist Workshop/PSSP Info Session

April 29, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Attend this workshop/info session to learn more about scholar-activism and community-engaged scholarship in practice!

  • Are you an undergraduate student interested in connecting your activist and community-engagement activities to research and academic scholarship?
  • Do you plan to write a senior honors thesis or capstone project that you want to have a significant public impact or be applied to help solve community problems?
  • Are you interested in being part of an interdisciplinary network of undergraduate students committed to social justice and the public good?

If so, attend this workshop/info session to learn more about different frameworks for approaching scholar-activism and community engaged scholarship! Participants will also learn about how to apply for the 2019-2020 Public Service Scholars Program (PSSP).

What is PSSP?

PSSP is a year-round, credit bearing academic program that supports students’ efforts to write a thesis or complete a capstone project that is both academically rigorous and useful—directly or indirectly—to specific community organizations or public interest constituencies. Students participate in the PSSP during their senior year, concurrently with the honors program in their major academic department or interdisciplinary program of study. Students from all majors are welcome to apply!

Applications for the 2019-2020 Public Service Scholars Program (PSSP) are due on May 20, 2019. To learn more about PSSP, visit our website at https://haas.stanford.edu/students/cardinal-commitment/public-service-scholars-program. Also, please feel free to contact PSSP director Joanne Tien at joannetien@stanford.edu with any questions.
